In the historic centre of Marbella we can find the last remain of the Moorish times, when the town was one of the most important cities in the province of the ancient Al-Andalus.
The Marbella castle dates from the 10th century and is situated close to the Plaza de Los Naranjos.
The originally fortified Marbella had an approximate extension of about 90.000 square meters; the city walls are still well conserved in some parts.
