What makes Torremolinos special
Torremolinos is located just 6 km from Malaga Airport and approximately 13 km from the centre of Malaga.
Its Mediterranean shores once housed a small fishing village. In the 1950s, this small village became one of Spain’s leading sun and beach tourist destinations. It made the name of the Costa del Sol as we know it today famous.
Torremolinos has always stood out from other destinations on the Costa del Sol for its liberal, permissive, and cosmopolitan atmosphere. And it is also one of the leading destinations for music and nightlife.
What’s in store for me at the Torremolinos Fair?
One thing’s for sure: you won’t be bored! Every year, thousands of people gather in honor of Torremolinos’ patron saint, Saint Michael the Archangel. This fair takes place day and night in different parts of the municipality, with a wide-ranging program including activities for all ages.
The fair itself is preceded by its famous pilgrimage, which you shouldn’t miss. Thousands of people gather on this day to celebrate the second most important pilgrimage in Andalusia and the largest urban pilgrimage in Spain.
Key Days and Events
- San Miguel Pilgrimage (Romería): Sunday, September 20, 2026 [1] (the traditional pilgrimage with ox-drawn carts to the hermitage in Los Pinares de los Manantiales).
- Opening: Friday, September 25, 2026. This first day marks the official start of the festivities and centers primarily on the evening, taking place at the Fairgrounds and the Príncipe de Asturias Municipal Auditorium.
9 pm – Lighting Ceremony: The fair officially kicks off at the entrance to the Fairgrounds with the official lighting of thousands of bulbs that illuminate the entire fair site. It is a highly photogenic moment that draws large crowds.
22:00 – Opening of Festival Booths and Rides: The traditional booths open their doors, featuring live music and dinner. 23:30 – Live concert at the Municipal Auditorium.
- San Miguel Day (Local Holiday): Tuesday, September 29, 2026. The main day featuring religious ceremonies and the procession of the patron saint.
San Miguel Pilgrimage
This pilgrimage, which departs from the city centre, enjoys a great popularity. Tens of thousands make the pilgrimage to the outskirts of the city, to the Pinares de Los Manantiales, accompanied by ox-drawn carts, horses, and horse-drawn carriages.
The pilgrimage takes place on Sunday, September 20, starting at 10:30 am. In Los Pinares, there will be music, dancing, food, and drinks, and live music starting at 4:00 pm.

Route: Avenida de los Manantiales, Plaza Costa del Sol, Avenida Palma de Mallorca, Avenida Joan Miró, Calle Rafael Quintana Rosado, Carretera de Benalmádena, Cruce del Pozuelo and Pinares de los Manantiales.
Day Fair and Night Fair
As with all major fairs in Andalusia, we can celebrate both day and night, in different locations throughout the city.
Day Fair
The Feria de Día (Daytime Fair) transforms the historic centre of Torremolinos into a lively street party. Music, dancing, and open-air bars serving tapas and traditional wines kick off around 1 pm or 2 pm each day. These are the “Hotspots”:
- Plaza San Miguel will feature live music and a bar with food and drinks from Friday through Monday, starting at 2 pm.
- Plaza de la Unión Europea isedicated to flamenco-pop and dance, hosting live sets from acts from 1 pm onwards.
- At Plaza Costa del Sol yo can enjoy lively ambient music, beautifully decorated streets, and traditional carriage displays.
- Plaza San Miguel: A hub for classic Andalusian folklore. The Hermandad Nuestra Señora del Rocío de Torremolinos organizes live traditional music and dance here starting at 1 pm.
Night Fair
The Torremolinos fairground hosts the typical fairground attractions, booths, live music, flamenco shows, and, of course, great food.

Every night during the fair, the Municipal Children’s Booth will offer entertainment, theatre, and workshops for the little ones starting at 8:30 pm.
The Municipal Booth for Adults will have entertainment, music and dancing by the Metrópolis Orchestra starting at 10 pm.
The Príncipe de Asturias Municipal Auditorium will feature performances on fair nights.
The RECREO festival at Plaza de Toros is for young people, with music and DJs on Saturday and Sunday nights from 00:00 to 04:00 am.
Sensory-Friendly Hours & Inclusivity
To ensure everyone can enjoy the festivities safely and comfortably, the Feria de San Miguel 2026
includes:
• Noise-Free Hours: Every day from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm, the children’s attractions and rides at the main fairgrounds operate entirely without music or loud sound equipment for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and sensory sensitivities.
• There are also Reduced-Mobility access zones, adapted inclusive spaces, and safety information points throughout both the daytime squares and nighttime fairgrounds.

Concert Lineup
The evening concerts will take place at the Príncipe de Asturias Municipal Auditorium, while the grand finale will move to the city centre.
• Friday, September 25: Falete (Traditional copla and flamenco, performing at 11:30 pm following the official opening speech.
• Saturday, September 26: Los Aslándticos (Spanish pop-rock and rumba) at 10:30 pm.
• Sunday, September 27: Pepe y Vizio (Urban flamenco fusion) at 10:30 pm.
• Monday, September 28: Torremolinos Dance Festival, a night showcasing local culture at 9:30 pm.
• Tuesday, September 29: El Kanka (Highly popular Spanish singer-songwriter headlines the final night) at 8 pm at Plaza Pablo Ruiz Picasso.
September 29 – Saint Michael’s Day
On Tuesday, starting at 7:00 pm, Children’s Day, with reduced-price rides.

Where to eat traditional tapas near the daytime plazas
There are `plenty of traditional tapas bars around the daytime fair plazas along Calle San Miguel and Plaza de la Nogalera. Here are some good ideas:

How to dress
To blend in perfectly at the Torremolinos Fair, you can choose between traditional Andalusian attire or casual, heat-friendly smart clothing. Because September in Málaga is still quite warm – with daytime temperatures frequently hovering around 25°C to 28°C (77°F to 82°F).
Flamenco accessories & Dresses
Many women buy a large flamenco flower to clip into their hair or wear a colourful fringed shawl over a simple dress. For Nighttime people tend to dress up slightly more. A smart-casual outfit is perfect for entering the casetas and evening concerts.
If you want to fully immerse yourself in the culture, you will see many women and girls wearing the traditional flamenco dress.

You can buy a cheap flamenco flower, hair combs or a traditional hand fan all over the town centre. If you want to purchase a traditional flamenco dress right in Torremolinos, you have a few excellent options:
• DFlamenca Modas. At Plaza de la Costa del Sol, right in the town centre. A dedicated specialty boutique founded by local flamenco and equestrian experts.
• Top Fashion. Located just off the iconic Calle San Miguel pedestrian street. A local reference store with an accessible selection of vibrant flamenco dresses and essential accessories.
Crucial Wardrobe Tips
• Wear Comfortable Shoes: You will be walking on cobblestones during the day, dancing sevillanas. And walking large distances across the fairgrounds at night. Leave high heels at home.
• Dust Warning: The nighttime fairgrounds can get very dusty. Avoid wearing brand-new white shoes or floor-length dresses that drag on the ground.
• Bring a Hand Fan (Abanico): Essential for keeping cool in crowded plazas or packed casetas. You can buy beautiful, cheap ones at any local shop in town.
• Pack a Light Jacket: While the days are hot, the coastal breeze can bring a slight chill after midnight. Especially if you are walking back from the late-night concerts.
Tips on getting to Torremolinos from nearby towns
The easiest way to get to the Torremolinos fairgrounds and town centre is via public transport, as parking becomes highly restricted and traffic heavily congested during the festivities.
Arriving by Suburban Train
The Cercanías C1 suburban train is the absolute fastest option. It runs every 20 minutes along the coast between Malaga city centre and Fuengirola.
• For the Daytime Fair (Feria de Día): Get off at the Torremolinos station. The main exit leads you directly into Plaza de la Nogalera, putting you right in the centre of the live music and street parties.
• For the Nighttime Fair (Recinto Ferial): Get off at the Montemar Alto station. It is an approximate 10-minute walk down to the municipal fairgrounds and the Auditorio Municipal. Alternatively, you can use the Torremolinos main station and catch a dedicated fair shuttle bus.
Arriving by Car & Parking
If you want to drive, note that central streets are closed off for the daytime fair. You should aim for the outer perimeter of the town.
• Fairground Parking: A large, designated outdoor parking area is usually set up near the Recinto Ferial off the A-7 highway (Exit 948), but it fills up very early in the evening.
• Town centre Underground Parking: If arriving early in the day, you can try underground paid parking structures like Parking Plaza de la Nogalera or Parking Centro Torremolinos.
