The Final 8 of the Davis Cup Malaga 2024 will take place from 19 to 24 November at the Martin Carpena Pavilion in Malaga. For one week, the eight best teams in the world will compete for the prestigious trophy.
Historic Davis Cup Malaga 2024
This Davis Cup Malaga 2024 is probably the biggest sporting event that the capital of the Costa del Sol has hosted in its history.
The event reached a much greater magnitude than usual since Rafa Nadal confirmed his presence and that it would be his last tournament as a professional.
Tickets practically sold out
Malaga has become the centre of world sport this week, with personalities from the world of sport, top institutional authorities and celebrities eager to watch the matches, which are practically sold out.
The match marked by Rafa Nadal’s farewell to the courts will be held at the Palacio de Deportes José María Martín Carpena in Malaga city, just a few kilometres from Malaga Airport. The sports centre regularly hosts numerous sporting events, concerts, shows such as Cirque du Soleil and the Goya Awards.
Hotels full as in August
Hotel bookings in Malaga for this week are around 95% of their rooms, due to the ‘Rafa Nadal effect’, which is boosting demand in the city, but also in the nearest towns on the Costa del Sol.
How to get to the Sports Palace
By car
Although the Martín Carpena has a large public parking area outside, it is difficult to find parking there, even if you arrive well in advance. Also note that there are usually considerable traffic jams for this kind of large events. So calculate some extra time.
This is something to bear in mind so that your big sporting event is not diminished by the stress of not finding parking. Here are the alternatives.
Parking in the surrounding area
A five minute walk from the Sports Palace is the Carrefour shopping centre with a large car park outside.
You can also park in the streets around the palace. Another alternative is to park in the area of La Concha, in the streets surrounding Avenida Velázquez and the Victoria Factory, and cross the bridge over the road. It takes just 10 minutes on foot.
Public transport
Given the usual traffic jams around large events at the Sports Palace, a convenient option is to leave the car at home and use public transport.
From the city centre the Malaga metro L2 runs every 5 minutes, the stop is located 350 m from the Sports Palace. The journey takes about 15 minutes.
The suburban train that connects the western municipalities of the Costa del Sol is not really an option, unless you like to walk: The closest station to the Sports Palace, Victoria Kent station, is about 35 minutes’ walk away.
