Torre del Mar, with its 4 kilometre seaside promenade which also extends to Caleta de Vélez, constitutes the principal costal nucleus of the Vélez municipal area.

The beaches of Chilches, Benajarafe, Valleniza, Almayate (with its nudist beach), Mezquitilla and Lagos also regularly ruled by the blue flag, signifying clean and healthy waters.
The physical characteristics of the sand are variable, being primarily formed by the sand from Chilches to Caleta de Vélez, include public services and leisure facilities, civil protection and lifeguard presence, easy access and bathing for the disabled, walkways, showers, children’s play areas, cafés and beach bars.
