Carnival
40 days before Holy Week
Fancy dress contests are held in Plaza San Francisco and in
the Pedro Espinosa High School. People celebrate the "Procession"
and the "Burning of the mollete" (muffin).
Holy Week
March / April
Thursday and Good Friday, are famous to bless the "Vega
Antequerana", and due to the fact that the church is
in the upper region of the hills.
Procession of the "Señor de la salud y de las aguas"
3th Sunday of May
It starts at the San Juan church, it goes through the district
with the same name and then on to the town centre.
Spring fair
End of May
Fiesta of National Touristic Interest. It takes place from
the end of May to the beginning of June and is a type of preparation
for the bigger Real Feria .
Royal August Fair
20 - 22 August
Attracts people from all places to show its top-level bullfighting.
Ntra. Sra. de los Remedios festivity
8 September
A solemn mass is held and the image of Nuestra Sra. de los
Remedios , the city's Marian patron saint, is taken out on
procession through the town centre.
Celebration of Santa Eufemia
15 -16 September
On the 15th the procession of the city's patron saint, Santa
Eufemia, is celebrated.On the 16th the conquest of the city
by Infante Don Fernando is commemorated with a Mozarabic mass,
offering the city standard to the patron.
