It was designed by Scottish architect Tom Simpson and it
is famous for his golfing layouts at Tumberry and Muirfield,
the Costas oldest course was opended by the Spanish Royal
Family in 1925. The course is part links with seawater lagoons,
and part parkland with the the fairways forming avenues between
the trees which are home to flocks of colorful parakeets.
The Parador Malaga de golf hosted the turespaña Masters
open de España in 1992 and 1999, which were won by
Vijay Singh and Miguel Angel Jimenez. The course measures
6024 metres in length and is suitable for players of all levels
of ability, though some holes present a rel challenge.
At the 12th, for instance, a perfect drive is required in
order to reach the green in two and avoid the eucalyptos grove
on the right. Guests staying at the joining parador, part
of the state-owned hotel chain, can play 50% green fee between
November and February.
