One of the great attractions of Benalmadena is its marina, known as Puerto Marina. Undoubtedly, for many reasons, it is one of the great resorts and leisure centres on the Costa del Sol and is situated only 15 kilometers from Malaga airport.
Puerto Marina was opened in 1979; the exotic Moorish architecture and nightlife make it a benchmark of leisure tourism in the Costa del Sol. There you will find everything from hotels to shops, restaurants, pubs, bars, discos and other entertainment. So if you reserve your hotel in Benalmadena, Puerto Marina is a compulsory visit.
On several occasions this marina has been awarded as the best marina in the world. It has a total of 1,100 berths and other services for those who wish to arrive with your own boat. With these data, Puerto Marina is by now the largest marina on the Costa del Sol.
The leisure offer of this port is very wide and varied. There is a water sports centre, diving and sailing schools, nautical academy, hundreds of bars and terraces, restaurants in Benalmadena for all tastes, many discos, pubs with live music, hotels, shops, a luxury residential area, the aquarium Sea Life… You can even enjoy the Mississippi Willow, a ship built in the early twentieth century to ply the Mississippi, and which today has become a nightclub.
Puerto Marina Benalmadena is the cheaper alternative (though not much) of Puerto Banus in Marbella, perhaps better known but much more expensive and exclusive. Nevertheless we can affirm that the party in Puerto Marina lasts all year. No need to wait for the summer to see entertainment in the area, and in winter everything is working, with lower turnout, but nothing stops. Because Benalmadena Costa is one of the major tourist destinations throughout the year on the Costa del Sol.
