The 160 km long Mediterranean coast of the province of Malaga in Andalusia stretches between the towns of Gibraltar and Nerja and offers something for everyone.

A car rental in Malaga is an easy means to getting to know the surrounding area. The hinterland of the Costa del Sol is home to a wonderful walking area, coastal mountains with extensive pine forests, charming white villages, fertile river valleys and stunning gorges, only a few miles from the bustling coastal towns.

As the mountains are composed partly of limestone, there have been formed over millions of years large caves that were inhabited already 30,000 years ago. In the Natural cathedral of Nerja and the Cueva de Ardales there are significant Neolithic cave paintings. Antequera, a small town near Malaga, marvels its visitors with a large-scale megalithic construction.

In the city of Malaga there is also much to see: A large Moorish castle, the Alcazaba, was built in the 11th century. It is connected by a city wall with the Gibralfaro and dominates the urban landscape of Malaga. The Botanical Garden La Concepcion is a must for plant lovers. The Picasso Museum attracts visitors with works of the great son of the city of Malaga.
