Malaga receives almost 8.000 cruisers, the first avalanche after the shipwreck of the ‘Costa Concordia’

Malaga will be receiving almost 8.000 cruisers today. It’s the first avalanche of high sea tourists since the accident of the ‘Costa Concordia’. Two ships will dock in the Malaga port between seven and eight o’clock in the morning. The Alcazaba is Malaga’s most valued monument, according to a survey

The Alcazaba is Malaga’s most valued monument, together with the Gibralfaro Castle and the Malagueta Bullring, according to a survey made by Qype, community of online reviews in Europe, that reflects that these sites are the favourites of both the citizens and the visitors.

Malaga presents new signposting that gather all the city’s museums

Museo Picasso malagaMalaga presents a new network of directional signs that gather all the city’s museums. The councillor of Economy and Tourism, Carolina España, introduced this cultural project of specific signposting this morning, christened as ‘Malaga, City of Museums’. “The aim of this new system is to reinforce a global and more homogeneous idea of this important tourist offer”, she added during the presentation, which took place in the museum Carmen Thyssen. This initiative is added to the pedestrian signposting network that already currently exists in Malaga city, and that will soon be improved once the contest for the renewal of hotel signs has been resolved. Both projects add up a total investment of almost 90.000 euros. [ Read more ]

The Museum of History in Nerja, a new attraction

As from the past 6th of December, on the National Constitution Day, Nerja hosts a new touristic and cultural attraction, its first Museum of History, a facility in which the Nerja Cave Foundation has invested over five million euros since the project began in 2006. The premises offers the visitors a very visual and audible tour, with several archaeological pieces found in the consecutive excavations made on the inside of the Nerja Cave since its discovery on the 12th of January 1959.

In this way, the Foundation’s forecast of visitors is set at approximately a hundred thousand people to pass through this building each year, that is situated in the central Plaza de España, which means almost one out of four that visit the cave. The entrance to the Museum, that is planned to be a live area with temporary exhibitions and cultural events, costs six euros, and the fee combined with the cave, 12.5 euros. In these first weeks, the influx of visitors has been constant, although there still aren’t official figures available.

Malaga will renew the agreement with Halcon Viajes and will seal an alliance with Turkish Airlines in Fitur

These are the axles on which the promotional display, that the town hall of Malaga has launched, will go around due to the upcoming International Tourism Fair of Madrid (Fitur), which will begin next Wednesday the 18th. Malaga’s Councillor of Economy and Tourism, Carolina España, announced yesterday that in this event, they will be renewing the agreement with Halcon Viajes to promote tourist packages of Semana Santa (Spain’s Holy Week), an offer that was launched successfully last year. Air France will launch routes from Malaga and Seville to Toulouse in April

The flights from Malaga airport will depart on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays

As from the following 1st of April, the French airline Air France will begin to operate both routes from Seville and Malaga to Toulouse, an investment of the company in the Spanish market. There will be four flights a week from Seville and three from Malaga. [ Read more ]
