Ethnographic Museum in Riogordo
Open Fridays to Sundays and holidays, from 11.00h to 14.00h
and from 17.00h to 20.00h.
The museum has nine exhibition rooms open to the public.
The permanent exhibits include a varied collection of machinery,
tools and containers for grinding and collecting olive oil
and local wine. All are beautifully decorated with lithographs.
Various antique items, dating up to four centuries old, are
exhibited on the walls and in showcases in every corner of
the museum. There are also olive oil cans and Malaga wine
barrels which were exported to Buenos Aires and Uruguay at
the end of the 19th century.
One of the rooms represents a 17th century kitchen with a
bread oven, and another a 19th century bedroom with original
furniture.
Friends of the owner, Enrique Godines, have loaned collections
of different items to the museum. These include water color
originals which were copied onto the lithographic stone exhibited.
Many different complete grinding systems are exhibited, the
oldest of which consists of a beam that presses olives on
basket lids.
